Enable GZip Compression

Before GZip Compression

1) Begin by verifying that you have the following line in your httpd.conf file:

LoadModule deflate_module modules/mod_deflate.so
 

2) Create a file in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ and name this file deflate.conf . Edit the following script into this file:

#Set to gzip all output
SetOutputFilter DEFLATE

The purpose of this post is to help guide users through tuning MySQLD for MySQL performance gains. 

Please keep in mind that these changes will increase the memory used by MySQL. The benefits will dramatically outweigh the cons, as these changes will greatly improve your queries and database usage. The average user will benefit most with MySQL changes similar to what this post will cover.
